how to judge the quality of sublimation transfer paper

how to judge the quality of sublimation transfer paper

With the increasingly stringent requirements for environmental protection, brands of inkjet sublimation transfer paper have sprung up like bamboo shoots after a rain. Various marketing methods and rhetoric are very colorful, and users are easy to be confused. Here are a few simple evaluation methods. Hopefully Help users to accurately choose the right inkjet sublimation transfer paper between price and quality.

1. Smoothness of printing:

The smoothness of printing includes paper feeding and printing performance. When users choose transfer paper, they should ask the supplier for 10-20 meters of paper samples. It is easier to identify the quality if the width is wider.

(1) Paper surface appearance: First of all, pay attention to the importance of the paper roll, the unwinding and rewinding are smooth, the paper is not skewed, the paper edge is not curled, and there is no wrinkles and stains.

(2) Print clarity: Print the test pattern in high-precision mode. The requirements: ①The lines should be clear and not split; ②There should be no obvious burrs on the edges of the lines; ③There is no blur between the lines.

Note to users and friends: Drying speed, printing clarity and transfer rate are mutually restrictive contradictions. Don't demand the drying speed too much. Just make sure that the ink does not stick to the back of the paper while printing and rewinding. Therefore, you have to consider the key points of selecting transfer paper: ① It will not wipe the nozzle; ② The color is even and fine and does not penetrate; ③ It can meet the drying speed of automatic printing.

(3) Printing flatness, uniformity and drying speed: Use 720×720dpi, 260% ink volume to print black 1 meter long color block. Requirements: ① The print wrinkle height is small (do not rub the print head and leave a safe distance); ②There is no white dot or obvious white dot on the surface of the color block; ③There is no black dot penetrating through the ink on the back of the color block (no print-through ); ④ Touch the newly printed color block with your fingers as the standard for non-sticky hands, and the drying time is not more than 9 minutes (this is the standard for ordinary quick-drying paper, and it is not more than 90 seconds for quick-drying paper.).

Pay attention to the humidity of your printing environment when printing large areas of color blocks. Generally, the temperature and humidity control in the printing room is required. It is best to control the humidity at 40-70%. If your printing room does not have humidity control, you don’t even know how to print. When testing the humidity, the transfer paper roll should be peeled off the plastic bag for 1 day before the printing test, so that the transfer paper can breathely match the humidity of the environment, and then print on the machine. Otherwise, when the paper roll is unpacked, it will quickly absorb the humidity and deformation of the environment. Coupled with the wet printing of the water-based ink, the fibers in the paper will quickly expand and be severely arched and rubbed against the nozzle. Another situation is particularly dry (such as humidity less than 30%) that the transfer paper suddenly absorbs a large amount of ink, which can also cause severe buckling.

The better the quality of the transfer paper, the smaller the arch height. This is because the transfer paper with small arching uses slow growth and high price wood pulp, so the deformation is small. In addition, the slow speed of the paper machine can make the paper deformation small (production efficiency (Lower), these two factors make the price of transfer paper with small buckling higher. Therefore, when you do not print heavy ink color blocks, but only print fancy patterns or light-colored patterns with a small amount of ink, you can also buy lower-priced transfer paper.

Second, the smoothness of thermal transfer: Thermal transfer is divided into flat transfer and roller transfer, but whether it is flat or roller, the inkjet thermal transfer paper is required to be heated without warping. The thermal flatness of the transfer paper depends on The transfer paper coating formula and coating process equipment, a simple way to test the heat warpage performance of the transfer paper can be to cut the transfer paper of 25cm×25cm, and put the printing side down under the flat heat press machine that has been heated to 210 degrees. After 2 minutes, the warpage height of less than 5cm generally does not affect the transfer production. Some immature transfer papers are even warped into a barrel shape by heat. Such transfer papers are a lot of trouble in sheet heat transfer, and the pass rate is reduced. The large warped transfer paper will also warp when printed in a dry environment. Although the transfer paper can be cheaper by 1-2 wool, it will cause the short life of the print head and the large loss of fabric scrap. The gain is more than the loss!

Tips: In order to improve the smoothness of the thermal transfer, the printed roll of transfer paper can be dried for one day before transferring, which will restore the flatness and stiffness of the transfer paper, thereby making the thermal transfer smooth And the transfer rate increases.

3. Regarding the transfer rate: Of course, transfer paper must have an excellent transfer rate. The seller Huang Po Maigua said that his product transfer rate can reach more than 95%. This is not true. Transfer paper experts from many countries are communicating and transferring. Everyone says "NO" when checking the rate of problems! There is no detection method for the transfer rate in the world. It is estimated by visual observation. The description of the transfer rate in my country's thermal transfer paper industry standard (to be announced this year) is also a related detection method, and there is no specific percentage.

Transfer paper is roughly divided into two types: coated transfer paper and uncoated transfer paper. Coated transfer paper is mostly used in China. This is because coated transfer paper has low ink requirements. Low-priced domestic inks can also transfer colorful patterns, while uncoated transfer paper needs to be equipped with high-concentration and high-tension ink, and its price is relatively high; in addition, uncoated transfer paper consumes ink per square meter The amount is 1 times higher than that of coated transfer paper, so users should not just look at the price of transfer paper when choosing coated transfer paper or uncoated transfer paper. The price of uncoated transfer paper may decrease. 50%, and the unit price of using high-concentration ink may rise by 40%, and then increase the ink consumption by 100%. The overall cost is much higher than that of using coated transfer paper.

Although uncoated transfer paper has poor printing precision, it dries quickly and the paper surface is relatively flat. This is in the case of high labor prices in developed countries, smooth printing and transfer is more important, and developed countries generally use high-quality High-concentration ink, the advantages of this ink also cover the shortcomings of large ink absorption on the paper surface, so in recent years the sales of uncoated transfer paper in Europe and the United States have grown rapidly.

Chinese inkjet heat transfer users pay special attention to quality and price. Chinese workers are far more intelligent and flexible than foreigners. They can fully adapt to the economic and technological model of using coated transfer paper + domestic ink, high-quality and low-cost domestic products. The combination of inkjet transfer paper and domestic ink makes the printing more delicate, the color is more beautiful, and the overall cost is lower. This state will reasonably exist for a long time.

Customers can do a "parallel experiment" when judging the transfer rate. The method is to take several transfer papers you need to compare and stick them side by side with double-sided tape, and then print the horizontal 2 cm wide strips of CMYK color blocks together on the printer. , After waiting for 1 hour, the dye-sublimation transfer is performed on the same fabric at the same time. The transfer rate is high with high color density on the cloth or less residual color on the transfer paper.

Pay attention to when comparing transfer rates with this experimental method:

①The same type of inkjet sublimation transfer paper should be selected for comparison. For example, the transfer rate of various types of transfer paper produced by Suzhou Quanjia Company is as follows: Quanjia quick-drying paper-Quanjia thin paper-Quanjia adhesive paper- Quanjia quick-drying paper.

②Don't just pay attention to the transfer rate, but also take into account the drying speed and flatness of printing. Without smooth printing, transfer is meaningless.

③The transfer rate detection method can also be used to judge the difference between the current transfer paper and the original transfer paper during the production of reversing orders, so as to determine the choice of the current transfer paper or decide whether to remake the ICC curve.

The choice of transfer paper can be summarized into three sentences:

①Printing is smooth, less wrinkles, clear lines without white spots, and no black spots on the back.

②The underside of the ironing board is arched and low, and the transfer operation is good.

③High transfer rate, less ink consumption, good coloring of the fabric.
